Madera and Oakhurst Community College is located about five miles out of town in any direction. Some students were being dropped off as early as 6 a.m., or using dial-a-ride services to get to class.

San Joaquin Regional Transit District launched a new service that will make it easier for people who are visually impaired and blind to navigate its system using audio and tactile maps of the RTD’s boarding stations.

Modesto Junior College is joining a growing list of institutions that are partnering with transit to ease the financial burden of getting an education. As of July 1, all students can ride city and county transit systems for free.
