Transit Agencies Need to Get Out of the Fare Collection Business
If all transit agencies are losing off-peak riders then other agencies will also need to adjust fares and costs. SFMTA frets about the same issues. So does AC Transit, Caltrain, SamTrans, VTA; 27 different agencies in the Bay Area spend untold hours discussing, studying, and paying staff and consultants to figure out fare policy.
