I wrote in this week’s Legislative Update that legislation the governor doesn’t sign or veto receives a “pocket veto.” While that’s true in D.C. and New Jersey (where I once worked as a lobbyist), but not in California.

If Newsom doesn’t act on legislation it becomes law.

Newsom hasn ‘t signed any of the seven pieces we discussed in the piece, but he’s only done two “pocket signatures” in his time in office. We expect action in the next couple of days.
